The Explorer's Series

THE EXPLORER'S series is a good example of a successful idea. It is a very cost-effective method of reaching a large or global audience with substantial quantities of easily absorbed information about any place or topic. THE EXPLORER'S series comprises three types of publication, see below, and they can only be used for subjects that have a cultural or natural history content. The selected topic is produced by IK in collaboration with interested organisations or authorities. This service is particularly suited to international projects that need qualified and easily accessed information. For more information about production times and costs for promoting your region or exhibition, please contact IK.

THE EXPLORER'S HANDBOOKS are a series of international pocket guides. Each guide, which is published in two languages, comprises short, succinct and generously illustrated chapters. The guides are used to give the reader easily understood information about a visit or topic; maps make the handbooks ideal for pre-visit information or as a guide or follow-up. They average 52 to 74 pages including two foldouts, one of which is a postcard. Sold on site or in bookshops for a budget price, the handbooks are designed to be an easily affordable and worthwhile reference.

THE EXPLORER'S MAPS are highly regarded pocket atlases containing detailed maps of a specific region. Each map has an easily understood legend: the icons have been carefully developed by IK for ease of understanding and clarity. Besides containing maps, an index and practical information, each book is prefaced by short chapters that describe the local geography in two languages. The books have between 80 and 110 pages.

THE EXPLORER'S EXHIBITION GUIDES are beautiful, compact, six page colour catalogues. They are ideal for introducing visitors to exhibition topics. Subject matter can include the purpose of the exhibition, an overview and guide, and information about the exhibitor(s) with contact names etc. The format and rigid paper quality make the guide easy to use in crowded areas.

BOOKS & EXHIBITIONS
The pleasure of making items of cultural and natural historical interest available to the public is an inspiring and important part of the work of IK Foundation & Company. The results of IK projects are generally published in book form or shown in the form of an exhibition - sometimes it is a combination of both. When it is judged the subject is suitable and important, IK also publishes books and produces exhibitions in collaboration with other well-respected organisations.

It is however, primarily our own projects that lie behind the factual and beautifully produced books and exhibitions that IK creates. No matter the size of the project, IK always demands the same high quality, i.e. well researched, long-term and correct content in combination with excellent design.

On the next few pages you can read more about IK exhibitions and books.

IK also uses other forms of media to broadcast the results of its work, these include seminars, radio, film and the Internet. Visitors to the web site can buy books "off the shelf".
