SEMINAR IN ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN 6th June, 2017 |”The Linnaeus Apostles Bridge Builder Expeditions - Sweden, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan & Russia.” Including the launch of The Explorer’s Field Guide, a new series of prints exploring Natural & Cultural history.
This foldable print in the Russian language is an interdisciplinary work, which will be circulated to a significant number of organisations, institutions and schools in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

”The Explorer’s Field Guide | Путеводитель  исследователя – Экспедиции Апостолов Линнея по наведению мостов во времени – Швеция, Казахстан, Кыргызстан и Россия” is published in the Russian language and was launched on the same day as the seminar “The Linnaeus Apostles, Bridge Builder Expeditions – Sweden, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan & Russia” on 6th June 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The seminar, which took place in Astana, Kazakhstan - encompassed a number of presentations covering a wide range of historical topics with over thirty attending delegates from five countries – Sweden, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia & United Kingdom. The combined undertaking of the new print and seminar has been through the cooperation between The IK Foundation, Embassy of Sweden in Kazakhstan, Riksföreningen Sverigekontakt and Oriflame of Sweden. 

 

Participating researchers from the Russian Academy of Sciences, took the opportunity to kindly donate their book ‘M.V. Lomonosov and Academic expeditions…’ to the directors of several research libraries in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In conjunction to the seminar, meetings were held at both the National Museum and National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana.

The seminar also marked the launch of the Russian languaged, The Explorer’s Field Guide, the first of a series of prints focusing on “Bridge Building” within Natural & Cultural history from the 18th century to the present-day. Including observations on Carl Linnaeus and his Systema Naturae, his seventeen so-called Apostles who travelled to more than fifty countries, Johan Peter Falck and his studies of everyday clothing, water, petroglyphs etc in Russia and Kazakhstan. Making comparisons with early colour photographs from Prokudin-Gorskii Collection and modern DNA studies.
