DATE:

HEADER:
The major scientific donation of two archives and a landscape model is detailed in the publication, Piperska Handlingar No.3, and has now been given a second life in the archives of Högestads & Christinehofs Fideikommiss.

This donation and its contents is detailed in the newly released publication – Katalog över Högestads & Christinehofs Fideikommiss Historiska Arkiv – Piperska Handlingar No.3 – in which its appendixes detail the unique archival material from primarily the historian and academic Elof Stoltz (1897-1957). He produced and kept a rich descriptive archive of the alum industry in Andrarum and more importantly further afield throughout Europe – this being groundbreaking in adding a global perspective to a local industry. The major scientific donation by The IK Foundation has allowed this material to live on and be put to good use in the longterm in the hands of the Högestads & Christinehofs Fideikommiss (entailed estate) historical archive. The material spans in detail the industrial development, the people who worked, lived and died in the alum industry. This intricate collection of materials is comprised of letters, records, maps and images, as a whole they prove to be an invaluable asset and have now been brought to light through this publication.

In addition to this newly published material, Appendix B covers the archive of the late Carl-Filip Mannerstråle (1924-2002) antiquarian and fellow of The IK Foundation – who left a collection of research material. Material which can be used by us to gain a greater understanding of the natural and cultural history of the region surrounding the Andrarum Alum works and Christinehof. Whilst Appendix C includes the topographical landscape model which was created using the material of Elof Stoltz – in conjunction with the “AlunCentre” (1991-92) project. This piece is a unique contribution to the local geographical and topographical history of the area and was built by architect Ylva Berglund at The IK Foundation with the assistance of architect Henric Jais-Nielsen, Helsingborg and the landscape architect and Professor Sven-Ingvar Andersson (1927-2007), at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation.
