Hi there!

In The IK Foundation series "TELL US YOUR STORY", we meet interesting and knowledgeable people who in various ways are linked with IK's work to Promoting Natural & Cultural History.

The latest "story" addresses a topical subject on the right to UNLIMITED FREEDOM OF THE WRITTEN WORD via the natural philosopher Peter Forsskål. A fascinating ongoing work by David Goldberg, an academic lawyer in Glasgow, Scotland and additionally, he is the Convener of Project Forsskål.

Next year, in 2019, it is exactly 260 years since Forsskål published a pamphlet "Thoughts on Civil Liberty” – a work of strong civil courage on the right of individuals to freedom of expression. The so-called seventeen Linnaeus Apostles also included Forsskål, whose travel journals were published by IK between 2007 and 2012, stretching over a total of 6000 pages. Due to this mutual interest, we are delighted to present David Goldberg’s equally historical and modern writing giving further context to 18th century inspiring possibilities and limitations.
