For
almost two decades, IK has produced and published high-quality, natural
history and cultural heritage books and printed matter for a wide
audience.
BOOKS and printed matter published by IK are frequently the
result of an IK project or the result of collaboration between IK
and other parties. The IK philosophy is to produce books that will
survive the tests of time with regard to both content and design.
We believe that even heavy or complex subjects will interest a wide
audience providing they are well edited and written and beautifully
designed and printed. In other words, close cooperation between content
and skilled tradesmen at each stage of a book's development is vital
to its success. Our well-established network of international colleagues
supports and maintains this process.
Each
IK book project is unique and the final product is dedicated to the
subject matter in hand. All IK books, whether they are weighty, bound
volumes or easily pocketed, low priced guides have one thing in common
- they are beautiful and skilfully edited.
IK books are best bought through the IK
on-line SHOP. It is here that you will get the best prices and
see what books are available and in stock - they will also be delivered
to your door.
SERIES
Apart from individual titles, IK publishes several series of books
in the fields of culture and natural history. These cover a wide geographical
area and provide the reader with unique documentary and well-informed
insights into many exciting worlds
THE LINNAEUS APOSTLES - GLOBAL
SCIENCE & ADVENTURE - The prestigious international edition
of the Linnaeus Apostles' own diaries and travelogues - notes,
documents and impressions from five continents in the 18th century.
In 2006, a complete set of volumes will be published for the first
time in English.
THE MUNDUS LINNĈI SERIES
- A kaleidoscope of works centred on the world of Linnaeus (Mundus
Linnĉi). The series incorporates various topics written be leading
experts in such fields as culture and the arts, and natural history.
New topics, forgotten stories, facsimile print, new knowledge
- all presented in this series of beautiful and scholarly publications.
THE NORDIC TRAVELLERS
- is a series of documentary books about past and present Nordic
travellers with the emphasis on nature, culture and the enivronment.
THE EXPLORER'S SERIES -
comprises three types of publication, and they can only be used
for subjects that have a cultural or natural history content.
The selected topic is produced by IK in collaboration with interested
organisations or authorities. This service is particularly suited
to international projects that need qualified and easily accessed
information.
PIPER DOCUMENTS - the archive
from the stately home Christinehof is an acyclic series based
on the official historical documents stored at Christinehof. A
trust in the south of Sweden the archive of which is intact and
stretches over nearly four centuries of northern European culture
and natural history.
If you want to be kept up-to-date with new publications you can either

IK: NEWS".
BOOKS & EXHIBITIONS
The pleasure of making items of cultural and natural historical
interest available to the public is an inspiring and important part of the
work of IK Foundation & Company. The results of IK projects are generally
published in book form or shown in the form of an exhibition - sometimes
it is a combination of both. When it is judged the subject is suitable and
important, IK also publishes books and produces exhibitions in collaboration
with other well-respected organisations.
It is however, primarily our own projects that lie behind the factual and
beautifully produced books and exhibitions that IK creates. No matter the size of the project, IK always
demands the same high quality, i.e. well researched, long-term and correct
content in combination with excellent design.
On the next few pages you
can read more about IK exhibitions and books.
IK also uses other forms of
media to broadcast the results of its work, these include seminars, radio,
film and the Internet. Visitors to the web site can buy books "off the shelf".
