BOOKS & PRINTS

The Linnaeus Apostles - Global Science & Adventure consists of eight volumes comprising a total of eleven books, in genuine cloth-bindings, protected by a dust-jacket decorated with a reproduction of an original block-print on Kozu fibres brought back to Europe by the apostle Carl Peter Thunberg from his sojourn in Japan.

The Linnaeus Apostles - Global Science & Adventure follows the tradition that we call Linnaean, of presenting knowledge in an attractive manner in which text and images interact to provide the reader with the clearest possible accounts of the journeys of the apostles.

The work - The Linnaeus Apostles - Global Science & Adventure - has already been distributed to libraries, museums, academies, governments and schools as well as private homes in more than 110 countries. The contents of the set of volumes provide fascinating reading about environments and cultures that have now vanished, providing both inspiration for further research and exciting details and accounts of natural and cultural history.

The set of volumes entitled The Linnaeus Apostles - Global Science & Adventure is delivered in a specially developed cardboard box with double-layered sides

EXHIBITIONS & LAUNCHES

Images from exhibitions and presentations in connection with various events during the preparatory work on The Linnaeus Apostles - Global Science & Adventure, including - among other venues - the Royal Geographical Society in London and the Palace of Drottningholm near Stockholm, Sweden.

PEOPLE & GENERAL

The Linnaeus apostles describe in their journals how they went about their field work, collecting material relating to both natural and cultural history. A curious entry written in South Africa comes from the apostle Anders Sparrman, in which he notes the practicality of collecting plants and insects in his hat, thus leaving his hands free to write his field notes. The reconstruction based on that passage shows the linen and cotton clothing used in the field at that time, as well as a three-cornered hat. The bag provided space for collected material, notes, writing equipment, boxes and a knife used primarily for preparing zoological specimens in the field.

The official ambassadors for The Linnaeus Apostles - Global Science & Adventure within the IK Foundation . The former external secretary of the Royal Academy of Science in Sweden, Olof G Tandberg, represents the scientific community. Lars Gårdö, who is also chairman of Nordic 3i, is a representative of the world of trade and industry, while the former prime minister of Sweden, Ingvar Carlsson, is a representative of the political community.
